Independent Kassel & Schwiete-Foundation Research Group Leader for pharmacological probe development and characterization at FIAS (Research Fellow)

The research group leader position can be filled starting from 01.01.2020 and is funded for up to five years by the Alfons und Gertrud Kassel-Stiftung and the Dr. Rolf M. Schwiete Stiftung. The salary grade is based on the requirements of the collective agreement (TV-L-H) applicable to FIAS. The research group will be integrated into the state funded CMMS LOEWE project (https://fias.institute/de/projekte/cmms/) unifying more than 20 different PIs with the aim of developing Methods and Applications for Multiscale Modeling in Life Sciences. Further, the activities of the group will be integrated into our efforts in the pharmaco-medical research fields associated with the strategic aims of the Open Science Initiative “Structure-Genome-Consortium – SGC” (https://www.sgc-frankfurt.de/).

The focus of the research group is the development of novel approaches for probe development using AI methods and their application. FIAS is open to all types of strategies and forms of applications. An interaction with the biological questions of CMMS & SGC would be beneficial. Frankfurt has a Tier-2 supercomputer, which is available for processing of data and programs.

We are looking for a candidate with Ph.D. in science with experience in the field of simulation of complex systems. In particular, useful would be experience with the analysis of biological systems. A co-affiliation with the Goethe University or a Max-Planck-Institute is possible, but is subject to negotiation.

Independent Research Group Leader for HPC in life science

The research group leader position can be filled starting from 01.01.2020 and it is funded for up to five years. The salary grade is based on the requirements of the collective agreement (TV-L-H) applicable to FIAS. The research group is part of the state funded CMMS LOEWE project (https://fias.institute/de/projekte/cmms/) unifying more than 20 different PIs with the aim of developing Methods and Applications for Multiscale Modeling in Life Sciences.

The focus of the research group is the development of novel approaches for the molecular modeling and simulation of cellular structures. One basis for this endeavor is the code “complexes++”. Efficient programming techniques are important to be used. They include vectorization (VC), use of accelerators, such as GPUs, algorithmic optimizations, taking into account the system and memory architecture and similar features of the current setup. Frankfurt has a Tier-2 supercomputer, which is available for CMMS processing.

We are looking for a candidate with Ph.D. in science with experience in the field of scientific and high performance computing. In particular, useful would be experience with modeling and efficient HPC algorithms. A co-affiliation with the Goethe University or a Max-Planck-Institute is possible, but is subject to negotiation.
