Dr. Antonio Scialdone vom Helmholtz Zentrum in München zu Gast bei CMMS Talks
Veranstaltungsort: Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies, Ruth-Moufang-Str. 1, 60438 Frankfurt am Main, Lecture Hall
Am 17.11.2022 hält Dr. Antonio Scialdone vom Helmholtz Zentrum München einen Vortrag zum Thema "Embryonic development".
Title:
Making heads or tails of mouse embryonic development using single-cell transcriptomics and physical modelling
Abstract:
Embryonic development is arguably the most spectacular manifestation of the cells' ability to self-organize in spatial patterns while changing their identity to generate different organs. However, how cells generate these complex and robust dynamics is still largely unknown.
In this talk, I will present our work aiming to address two key questions about mouse embryonic development: how do embryos decide where the head and the tail will form? How do they get rid of defective cells during their rapid growth? I will discuss how, to answer these questions, we analyze single-cell transcriptomic datasets and combine methods from machine learning and physics in close collaboration with experimental labs.
