CoNDyNet Industry Workshop: From Research to Application

About CoNDyNet

The Collective Nonlinear Dynamics of Complex Electricity Grids (CoNDyNet) Consortium was formed to gain a deeper understanding of dynamic phenomena in  complex, decentralised electricity networks and develop new concepts for the operation and reorganisation of the power system. The Consortium comprises the Potsdam-Institut für Klimafolgenforschung (PIK), the Max-Planck-Institut für Dynamik und Selbstorganisation (MPIDS), the Jacobs University Bremen (JUB), the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS) and the Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ). The aim of this workshop is to bring the CoNDyNet research partners together with companies, network operators and energy providers, to provide input and guidances for the challenges facing the power industry. These discussions should provide impetus for applying and implementing the results of the CoNDyNet research in realistic situations. For more information about the CoNDyNet Consortium, see here.

Date and Venue

The workshop will take place on Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd November 2016. All parts of the workshop will be held at the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS) on the Riedberg Campus of Frankurt University. For directions, see FIAS: How to find us. All sessions will be held in the FIAS Hörsaal. The dinner on 22.11 will be held in the FIAS Faculty Club, while the lunches on 22.11 and 23.11 will take place in the FIZ (Frankfurter Innovationszentrum).

Programme

The programme is split into six 90-minute sessions by topic and two 60-minute breakout sessions. In each main session, CoNDyNet members will present their research, then invited guests will present the challenges they see in industry today, leaving time at the end for discussions. In the breakout group sessions, participants will split up into smaller groups to dicuss specific questions for 30-40 minutes,  before reporting back on their conclusions in a plenary session at the end. Please feel free to suggest discussion topics! A star ∗ means that the participant has not confirmed yet. 12+3 minutes means as a 12 minute presentation followed by 3 minutes questions. The full programme is available via Timetable and a list of all attendants via Participants.
