Partners of FIAS

An institute based on theoretical fundamental research is dependent on strong collaborations with experimental research institutes and universities on national and international level.

Goethe-Universität

In 2004, FIAS was founded by Goethe University. Positioned among the top international research universities, it offers a wide variety of academic programmes, a diverse group of research institutes, and a focus on interdisciplinary approaches to solving complex problems.

GSI Helmholtzzentrum GmbH

The GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research GmbH in Darmstadt operates a large, globally unique accelerator facility for ions. Researchers from all over the world use the facility for experiments to gain new insights into the structure of matter and the development of the universe. They also develop novel applications in medicine and technology.

MPI Brain Research

The Max Planck Institute for Brain Research focuses on the functioning of circuits in the brain. Scientific departments, Max Planck research groups and Max Planck Fellows work in the new institute buildings on the Riedberg.

MPI Biophysics

The Max Planck Institute for Biophysics focuses on investigating the structure and function of proteins that are embedded in cellular membranes. Membrane proteins functioning as channels, transporters, or molecular sensors mediate the exchange of matter and information between the cells and their environment.
