Under the title “Advent in the Universe” FIAS Director Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jan Wörner presents a festive lecture that places the history of the universe into an unusual temporal perspective.

Using the concept of a cosmic year, he illustrates when key events such as the formation of the Milky Way, the emergence of the Sun and Earth, and the appearance of humans would have occurred, offering an accessible way to reflect on cosmic timescales.

Alongside insights into space science and cosmology, Wörner also shares perspectives on current developments at FIAS. First results from an institute-wide survey and the resulting ideas for the institute’s future direction provide an outlook for the coming year.
