Analog Systems for Gravity Duals
The aim of this project is to develop and test a new method to describe strongly coupled phases of matter. These strongly coupled phases of matter include the quark gluon plasma, high-temperature superconductors, and related classes of materials. Matter in such strongly coupled conditions is very difficult to describe with existing theoretical methods, which hinders our understanding of these interesting cases. The method subject of this proposal is a new type of duality. It has the potential to lead to the discovery and development of new types of materials with desirable electric and optic properties, and to bring new insights into the structure of elementary matter in the early universe.
